When my favourite castile soap brand went out of stock in Singapore for a long long time, I was groaning and clutching my last gallon bottle because I use a lot of it for making our own liquid body soap and hand soap. And with 2 grubby kids who would just get into the stickiest, scrappiest situation possible, soap + water is a must with this mama!
Thanks to a tip by Rebecca Chrisman, I now swap out castile soap with the YL Bath and Shower Gel Base! Not only is it moisturising and gentle to our hands and body (castile soap can be drying unless you add glycerin and Vitamin E), it’s also very budget friendly!
Why? Because ONE bottle of YL Bath Gel makes SIXTEEN bottles of liquid soap!! WUTTTTTT??!!!
YAAAASSSSSS!!!
Let’s do the math:
1 bottle YL Bath Gel = 236 ml
For a normal size foaming pump bottle (250 ml thereabouts), you only need 1 to 2 tablespoons bath gel. But of course, add more if you want a soapier feeling!
1 tablespoon = 10 ml
Hence the cost of making one bottle of liquid soap = SGD1.70 to SGD3.40
Add the eo of your choice. It’s entirely up to you how many drops you want to add, depending whether you want a stronger or milder scent.
In my photo, my foaming pump bottle is 500 ml so I did 3 tablespoons of bath gel and added 15 drops Grapefruit. Love it that I can customise what I want my toiletries to smell like! Plus there’s no hidden toxins that could compromise my family’s health later.
Is it really effective at removing grease? YESSSS! I ate some chips last night and washed my hands. Couple of squirts, rub, wash, and my fingers are nice and clean!
