Yesterday, I stumbled on a Reel from Simon Sinek that stopped me mid-scroll. He said, “There’s no such thing as strengths or weaknesses—only traits defined by context.” Boom. That’s exactly what I teach as a Positive Intelligence coach: most “weaknesses” are simply strengths on overdrive.
Examples from my real life:
1. I’m often told that I’m not assertive. So underneath that is my overused superpower of wanting to create harmony among people and make them happy. Depending on context, it can look like a weakness (not assertive) or a strength (during mediations, conflict management).
2. Hot temper – yes this is often seen as a weakness or something to be improved on. But if you flip it to the other side, you can also see that its because they have high expectations of how a person should be or act, that when it didn’t turn out that way, they care so much about it and blew up. (Saying this cos I live with 2 peeps in my life that are hot tempered.) And having high expectations in some situations is considered a strength.
